* This sum of 6s 8d was for Scawton Croft which was purchased by Lord Feversham in the same year and it was described as a modus or commutation of a tithe payable to Otto Augustus Manners, Rector of Hawnby which was a tradition dating back to the early 14th century.
In the 27 year period between 1812 and 1839 the area of arable land had increased from 486 acres to 793, an increase of 63 per cent and the amount of pastureland had fallen from 630 acres to 534, a decrease of 15 per cent and this seems to indicate a change of farming policy towards cultivating more crops.
The maps that accompanied the survey make it possible to identify the farms though it is pointed out that most of the names were not created until later in the century
