Turbury was the right to take turf which was jealously protected by the Manor Courts.
The right to have a gate for a given number of cattle was still recorded in 1939.
The total area surveyed was approximately 924 acres compared with the 963 recorded in 1683 and the 1,080 recorded in the Domesday Survey.
